Paul,

Interesting perspective and I suspect as economies become more wealthy and abundance becomes the norm, more and more employees will be placing a higher value on instrinsic rewards.

Whilst responsibility always rests with the individual it does create both a challenge and an opportinity from an employer brand perspective.

Reload media did a great job of enhancing their brand through a recent job ad they ran which featured video footage of the team, the offices and a bit about their culture. Will this attract more interesting and engaging candidates than a vanilla seek ad? My guess would be yes.

We can all choose to engage more fully by:
Recognising and acknowledging each others strengths and achievements, and being mindful of language.
Taking the time to reflect when things do not go so well, what was tried, what learnt what pleased about, what concerned about and what do I/we take forward?
Communicating to each other clear expectations, boundaries, purpose, time, roles etc.
Developing an understanding of what is important to and for ourselves, individuals, teams? and by
Listening to what is being said, being receptive to questions, insights and ideas and taking the time to listen fully.
